Math is hard

While discussing the possibility of taking on prealgebra in 6th grade:
Caroline: It's for kids gifted in math. I'm not really good at math.
Dad: You can get better if you put your mind to it.
Caroline: I really don't want to get better at math.

It's been a rainy day. Caroline and Maddie are both having friends over. Middle child Maureen asks in frustration, "What am *I* supposed to do? Annoy them?"

2nd Grade Theology

After trying to explain reconciliation and grace to Maureen, she asks, "So is Purgatory a big waiting room where you sit and read magazines about God?"

Patrick: "Uh, yes."

Caroline: Why do they call him St. Nick if he isn't dead?

Patrick: ...uh.....that's a very good question....some people call other people a saint even if they aren't.
